How to Get to the Tulum Ruins from the Hotel Zone
Getting there. We're at kilometre 8.5 on Tulum Beach Road (Carretera Tulum-Boca Paila). The ruins sit inside Parque del Jaguar, the national park around the archaeological zone. Our Transportation & Tours team arranges private transfers and private tours of the Mayan sites, so the simplest route is to ask the front desk on WhatsApp at +52 984 320 0701 the day before. Access roads around the park have changed in the last couple of years, which is another reason to check with us on the current way in rather than rely on an old map. If you have your own car, parking with us is free.
When to go. Be there at 8am. The archaeological zone is open 8am to 5pm and the ticket window stops at 3:30pm, so an afternoon visit can leave you locked out. Parque del Jaguar itself is open daily 8am to 7pm. Morning also means cooler stone and fewer people on the paths.
What it costs. Since a federal decree in July 2026, foreign adults pay one unified fee of 265 MXN and Mexican nationals pay 80 MXN, with no second ticket at the gate. An optional electric shuttle inside the park is 20 MXN for adults. Bring pesos in small bills. Fees do change, so check the INAH site the week you go.
What you'll see. A small, walkable walled Mayan city on a 12-metre limestone cliff above the Caribbean, with Playa Ruinas on the sand below the main temple. Plan on a couple of hours.
After. Come back for lunch: our beach club opens at 11am and runs until 7pm, with no minimum spend.
