Our bar sits on the sand at the UMi beach club, at kilometre 8.5 of Tulum Beach Road. It pours from 11am to 7pm every day, and you don't need to be staying with us to sit down. There's no minimum spend, towels are included and parking is free. Menu prices are in Mexican pesos, and the drinks below come straight off our menu.

When the bar is open

Every day, 11am to 7pm. Holidays and special occasions can run differently, so for those, email us before you plan around them.

The week has two speeds. Monday to Friday the beach is calm: a book, a sunbed, a margarita, not much else. At the weekend it's livelier, because that's when our UMi Beach Days run, with a live DJ set on the sand.

Our four signature cocktails

Four drinks, each built on a different base.

  • Balam Ha (spice): Mezcal Amarás cupreata, chile liqueur, pineapple juice, ginger beer, lemon and agave syrup. Smoky, a little hot, long. If you only order one, order this.
  • Flamingo: Tequila Patrón Reposado, Campari, watermelon oleo-saccharum and sparkling water. Bitter and fresh at the same time, good in the early afternoon.
  • Tulum Tiki: Bacardí 8, Disaronno, pineapple, passion fruit and Falernum. It contains almonds, so tell us if that's a problem.
  • Península: Grey Goose, St-Germain, lime oleo-saccharum and lemongrass. The lightest of the four.

The classics

The classics are where most afternoons go. We make margaritas, mezcalitas, palomas, mojitos, piña coladas, negronis, old fashioneds, Aperol, Campari and Hugo spritzes, espresso martinis, carajillos, Bloody Caesars, pornstar martinis, a paloma tropical and vodka Red Bull. The classics are all priced the same, except the Hugo spritz, which costs a little more.

Two of them come with a choice. The margarita and the mezcalita are both made with passion fruit, lemon or hibiscus. Our margarita uses Cazadores blanco; the mezcalita uses Amarás Espadín.

Beer

Corona, Modelo, Modelo Negra and Charro Premium Pilsner. Ask for any of them as a chelada, a michelada or an ojo rojo and we'll prepare the glass.

For tequila, mezcal, wine and champagne, ask for the full drinks menu at the bar.

2-for-1 Wednesdays

Every Wednesday is our Volleyball Club. The net goes up on the beach all day and classic cocktails are 2-for-1 while you play or watch.

We also post a monthly menu with that month's specials, and the weekly program is on our Instagram, @umitulum.

Weekends: the DJ and the late afternoon

Weekends are UMi Beach Days: a live DJ set on the sand, the same bar, more people. From Friday to Sunday we also run our curated nights, a weekly gathering with a live DJ and dancing barefoot on the sand. If you want the beach quiet, come midweek. If you want music with your drink, come at the weekend.

Food with your drinks

The beach club serves home-made dishes alongside the bar, and our restaurant runs every day from 8am to 11pm, with Mexican cooking, international touches and a lot of fresh seafood: ceviches and aguachiles, tacos and quesadillas, grilled octopus. From Thursday to Sunday there's fire-grilled fish served by the beach.

Bringing the dog

You can. The beach club is pet friendly and has its own dog menu: chicken, rice and veggies, or vegetarian rice and veggies, $60 MXN each.

Saving a spot

You don't need a reservation to come to the beach club. If you want to be sure of a spot, especially at the weekend, message us on WhatsApp at +52 984 205 6008 or book a table on OpenTable.
